ASUU BREAKING NEWS: ASUU Calls the Bluff of FG; Says FG Is Capping

The tori wey dey reach us now be say ASUU dem don talk say no be Dem Federal Government and Court dey follow talk say make dem resume.

ASUU’s response that follows the court order for Vice Chancellors to reopen Universities is that they will not concur, as the union has taken to the Court of Appeal to plead against the order. The court order contains directives and instructions sanctioned by the National Universities Commission (NUC), ordering the Vice Chancellors and University management to reopen schools and commence academic activities.

This court order seems to completely ignore the plight of ASUU and their intentions for embarking on the strike in the first place. In an interview with Vanguard, the National President of the Union, Professor Emmanuel Osodeke reacted by saying that the Federal Government was not talking to the union’s members. This reply shows that the union is not concurring.

Professor Osodeke further speaking said that “We are not holding the keys to the campuses. We did not shut down any University. Those who shut down the Universities are the ones who can decide to open them or not”. This further throws off the order to resume, he further spoke and said, “As for us going back to work, the government is not talking to us. We did not institute the case at the Industrial court, some people took us there and we have done the needful of exercising our right to appeal”. E be like say Prof don dey vex reach like this, he don yarn for the union say dem don appeal and dem no dey hear wetin court and FG dey yarn. His statement also shows that, ASUU did not drive the case to the Industrial court in the first place and that they don’t agree with the order.

The Professor however also said that no date has been fixed yet for the appellate court to hear ASUU’s appeal, but he has assured that ASUU has gone to the Court of Appeal and has done the needful. Na the Tori be that as he dey hot gathered from Vanguard.
