The University of Ibadan has qualified for the quarter final round of the Nigeria University Games Association (NUGA) Games taking place in Lagos after defeating Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) one to nil. University of Ibadan won the group stage game against OAU at the host institution, University of Lagos sport complex with a 1-0 victory on Tuesday March 22, 2022.
The match kicked off with either team scoring no goals till the end of the first 45 minutes of the game. The second half was no different as each team pressed to score a goal, after the halftime break, however none came.

The game continued after 90 minutes as the referee added two minutes extra to stoppage time. The match however took a drastic turn in the 91st minute as a University of Ibadan player brilliantly scored the winning goal. The assist was a corner kick taken by Ibrahim, a 300 level student of the Faculty of Law, while Bolu, a 400 level Statistics student gave an excellent finish. A prolific one touch on the ball saw it swinging to the back of the net, giving the University of Ibadan victory over OAU and a progress to the quarter final round.
The University of Ibadan will go on to face the host institution, University of Lagos in the quarter finals.
