History Made As Yahaya Bello Appoints MKO Abiola’s Daughter As Campaign Director General

The Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, has made his intention to run as a presidential candidate in the forthcoming 2023 general elections known.

The governor made the declaration on Saturday, April 2nd, 2022, at the Eagles Square in Abuja. While speaking at the event, Yahaya Bello also named a 15-man campaign team headed by Hafsat Abiola-Costello, the daughter of late MKO Abiola, whom he appointed as the director-general of his campaign team.

While speaking at the Eagle’s Square as Governor Yahaya Bello’s campaign DG, Abiola-Costello described her appointment as a great achievement for women in the history of Nigerian politics as she is the first woman to head a presidential campaign in the country.

In her statement, she congratulated all Nigerian women for they have, in the past, been made “made into cooks and singers”. According to her however, she has broken the bias as the “first woman director-general of a presidential campaign organisation”.

She further stated that she would massively campaign throughout Nigeria to secure strong support for the governor in the upcoming elections.
