ASUU-FG MEETING ENDS IN DEADLOCK…AGAIN

Chopping breakfast from your lover is painful, yes but is it as painful as the kind of delicacy ASUU and FG serves us? I highly doubt it. We can’t even move on, we are constantly at their mercy with our hopes high anytime the duo schedules a meeting. They managed to break our hearts once more yesterday night.

Following the announcement three days ago, ASUU and the federal government scheduled a meeting for yesterday hosted by the Chief of Staff to the President, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari alongside the Minister for Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige.

Generally, we know their past few meetings ended without reaching an agreement, so we anticipated the same but suddenly yesterday night, we heard the news that ASUU was considering suspending the strike for three months with the option to begin an indefinite strike if the federal government fails to meet the demands and if the proposal is accepted, students may begin to return to campus from Monday. It was a finger-crossing moment for students like me who are tired of running errands at home and just want to move on.

We got our hearts crushed as the meeting ended in a deadlock again with no agreements reached as stated in the screenshot below;

As much as I am inclined to say the strike would be hopefully called off soon, I don’t want to get our hopes up again, I’m sure we’re all tired of the back and forth between the duo so let’s just wish for the best soonest.
