Yemi Alade, a Nigerian African Afro-pop singer has won the hearts of so many Nigerians with her songs. She belongs to the Universal Music group. Her song, Johnny was produced and released in 2014 and is from Alade’s debut studio album, King of Queens.
The video was directed by Clarence Peters. “Johnny” was nominated for Best Pop Single and Song of the Year at The Headies in 2014. Yemi Alade’s Johnny is so melodious to dance to with the story revolving around a playboy who lured several ladies and got them pregnant.
2. Chidinma (Fallen in love – 106M)
Chidinma Ekele is a former pop singer but now a gospel singer and songwriter. She rose to stardom in the year 2010 after winning the third season of Project Fame. During this period, she was in the Capital Hill Label.
Recently, she has been signed by Eezee Conceptz, a top gospel-producing agency. The beautiful and popular gospel singer, Mercy Chinwo also belongs to this label. Chidinma’s Afro-pop song, Fallen in love was produced by MasterKraft and was released in 2016.
This song has beautiful lyrics that can give you butterflies in your belly when you think of your lover while singing it. The sexy pop singer has dumped secular music as she claimed she wants to use her song to win for her ‘father in heaven’.
She announced her intention to switch to gospel music on her 30th birthday and has produced some gospel songs already. Some of her popular gospel songs are Osuba, Jehovah Overdo, Chuwkuoma, Jesus, The Son of God (ft The Gratitude) etc.
3. Tiwa Savage ft Wizkid (Ma Lo – 59M)
In 2017, Tiwa Savage released her song, Ma Lo and Wizkid featured in the song. During this period, the duo were rumoured to be in a love relationship. The music video itself was a clear picture that both artistes were entangled. Ma Lo was produced by Benjamin Obadije popularly known as Spellz. The song was nominated for The Headies Award for Best Collabo, Headies Award for Best Music and more. Ayodeji Balogun (Wizkid) and Tiwa’s song was a hit in 2017.
Till now, both have not released a song together as an alleged break-up between the two was rumoured.
However, the popular Afro-Pop Artiste has cleared the air on the issue. She stated that she and Wizkid are just very good friends despite how the duo were involved in a romance in the music video, Ma Lo.
4. Tiwa Savage (All over – 59M)
Tiwa Savage’s “All Over” was released in 2017, produced by Baby-Fresh, shot in Miami and directed by Patrick Elis.
The song All Over belongs to her “Sugarcane” album and has 59million views on YouTube.
Tiwa has produced more songs after this, which are nominated for the Headies.
5. Simi (Duduke- 55M)
Simi Bolatito Kosoko is another well-known female Afro-Pop artiste with a melodic and alluring voice.
In 2019, Simi left X3M Label to set up her own personal label called “Studio Brat”. Her song, Duduke was a big hit in 2020 and most Nigerians can sing the song offhand.
Duduke was released on April 15, 2020, and produced by Oscar. In the music video, the female artiste flaunted her baby bump revealing she was pregnant.
According to Simi, the song was dedicated to women praying to be mothers. She sang about motherhood and how she looked forward to seeing the beautiful face of her child.
The song has over 55 million views on YouTube. Duduke won The Headies Award for Best Song Writer of The Year, 2021.

6. Teni (Case – 47M)
Teniola Apata is another popular Afro-pop artiste. She is popularly known as Teni Makanaki. Her song, case was released on October 19, 2018, and was produced by Jaysynths. The song won Best Pop Single at the Headies Award, 2019.
She belongs to Dr Dolor Entertainment label and her song, Case has over 47 million views on YouTube. The music revolved around the story of a Nigerian girl who went the extra mile just to get the attention of her love interest. The song’s lyrics are in Nigerian Pidgin which made many Nigerians love the music more.
7. Yemi Alade (Bum Bum – 44M)
Yemi Alade’s songs keep receiving recognition and admiration from Nigerians and other Africans. On YouTube, she’s the number one female pop-artistes whose songs have the highest views. You can see that in this top 10 list, her songs appeared five times with “Johnny” topping the list.
Yemi Alade did magic with this music track. The record is the fifth record of her “Black Magic” album.
The song was released in 2017 and produced by Vtek. Bum Bum has 44million views on YouTube.
8. Yemi Alade ft Selebobo ( Nagode – 34M)
Yemi Alade’s Nagode was released in 2016 and it belongs to her Album, Mama Africa. Selebobo produced the music video and featured her in this video. Her song, ‘Na Gode’ which means ‘Thank You’ in English and preaches the message of thanksgiving and gratitude. It advises that everyone needs to be grateful for what and to give to the less privileged who lack basic amenities of life.
Na Gode has 34 million views on YouTube.
9. Yemi Alade (Oh My Gosh – 30M)
Yemi’s Alade ‘Oh my gosh’ is one of the songs on the artiste’s album, Woman of Steel. The song was released in August 2018 and was produced by DJ Coublon. Yemi Alade later released the remix of the song with Rick Ross featuring her.
Oh My Gosh was co-written by Klem, mixed and mastered by Swaps. In this video, the artiste gushed over her love interest and declared her undying love for him.

Yemi Alade released Africa in 2019 and Sauti Sol featured her in this song. The song was produced by BeatsByEmzo and it is a single on her album, Mama Africa.
The African Queen celebrated the beauty and riches of Africa in her music. Sauti Sol, the Kenyan singer sang with her to praise Africa’s greatness and uniqueness.
The song has 29 million views on YouTube. Yemi Alade’s music is being listened to in almost all African countries. Mama Africa is indeed loved by Africans.
