No doubt, the University of Ilorin, best known as Unilorin, is one of the top five federal universities in Nigeria. At present, it has produced thousands of individuals who are doing excellently in their various careers, and those individuals are regarded as alumni of the school and members of the Unilorin Alumni Association.

It is unusual to find any career industry without any Unilorin alumni present. This is because since 1975, its foundation year, the school has been producing successful graduates that fill up the different career aspects in Nigerian society and beyond.

6. Wumi Toriola

The beautiful and talented Wumi Toriola is one of the University of Ilorin alumni in the movie industry. She was born on the 11th of July, 1988 in Lagos state, Nigeria. Wumi is an award-winning Nollywood actress and movie director who joined the industry in 2013.

Wumi Toriola earned her first BSc degree in Linguistics at the University of Ilorin before she enrolled in the Odunfa Caucus, a Yoruba Theatre group, in 2013.

Wumi Toriola has been featured in many Yoruba movies, including Queen Lateefah, Double double, My ex, Aku Alhaji, and many more.

5. Bolaji Ogunmola

Bolaji Ogunmola is a Nigerian actress professionally trained by the Royal Arts Academy, and she is also a Unilorin alumna in the movie industry. She was born on April 21st, 1990, in Lagos State, Nigeria. She attended Philomena Nursery and Primary at Ebute Metta, where she obtained her primary education, and relocated to Ibadan, where she earned her secondary education.

She obtained her first degree at the National Open University of Nigeria in Business Management and Entrepreneurship before she proceeded to the University of Ilorin.

Bolaji Ogunmola came into the spotlight in 2013 after making her debut in the movie “Okon Goes to School,” and she was featured in the popular TV series “Jenifa’s Diary,” “Sobi’s Mystic,” “Out of Luck,” “Tough Love,” “Looking for Babami,” and many other Nollywood English movies.

4. Temitope Aina Oshin

The award-winning movie director, Tope Oshin, is one of the most reputable personalities in the movie industry and studied at the University of Ilorin.

Temitope Aina Oshin, popularly known as, Tope Oshin, is a Nigerian movie director, producer, actress, and voice-over artist. She came into the spotlight after acting in a movie titled Relentless in 2010.

Tope Oshin was born on the 10th of June, 1979 into a Christian home in Lagos State, Nigeria. She attended the University of Ilorin, where she studied economics, but she later left for Lagos State University, where she obtained degrees in Public Administration and theatre arts.

Tope Oshin, as a movie and series director, has directed the outstanding African soap operas Tinsel, Till Death, Do Us Part, New Horizons, Journey to Self, Hotel Majestic, Up North, and many others.

3. Nkem Nwabuoku Owoh

The outstanding comedy actor, Nkem Owoh also addressed as Osuofia, had his first degree in Electrical Engineering at Unilorin. He was born on the 17th of October, 1958 in Enugu State.

Nkem Owoh is a prominent and award-winning Nollywood comedian, actor, movie producer, songwriter, and singer. He started acting before he graduated from the University of Ilorin, which was about 30 years ago.

Nkem Owoh earned public recognition after he acted in the Nollywood Blockbuster, an adaptation of Chinua Achebe’s Things Fall Apart, a series with 50 episodes. Ever since then, he has acted in over 200 Nollywood movies and directed many others.

2. Lasisi Elenu

Nosa Afolabi, popularly known as Lasisi Elenu, is a Nigerian actor, comedian, and skit maker, notable for wearing a wide-mouth disguise filter during a skit performance. He was born on April 20, 1989.

Lasisi Elenu is an alumnus of the University of Ilorin. He obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture and Biosystem Engineering after having it in his primary and secondary education in Lagos State, Nigeria.

Although, his earlier skits’ work wasn’t recognized till the 11th of August, 2017.

1. Femi Adebayo

This list is incomplete unless it includes Femi Adebayo, a talented actor and the son of a prominent actor who is also a reputable Unilorin Alumni in the movie industry.

The outstanding and award-winning Nigerian movie director, producer, actor, lawyer, politician, and entrepreneur Femi Adebayo is an alumnus of the University of Ilorin. He was born on the 31st of December, 1972 in Lagos.

Femi Adebayo is the son of Adebayo Salami, popularly known as Oga Bello, a legendary Yoruba actor. He (Femi) started acting in 1983 and when he was 13 years old, he featured in one of his father’s movies, titled Ogun Ajaye. He earned public recognition by playing the main character in the hilarious Yoruba comedy movie Jelili.

Femi Adebayo attended the University of Ilorin, where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in law before proceeding to the University of Ibadan, where he earned a master’s degree in law.
