1) LASBCA Vows to Demolish Buildings Without Permit

Wahala wahala wahala😢! The Lagos State Government, through the Lagos State Building Control Agency, has taken a firm stance on demolishing buildings that lack the necessary building plan permits. The agency’s General Manager, Gbolahan Oki, made this vow during a press briefing with journalists on Friday. In his words “My duty is for any property without a building plan approval, of which I would have to serve all the necessary notices, and once these notices are served without anyone providing a document to that effect means that property is an illegal structure. Nigeria seems to have a problem with always constructing illegal structures knowing fully well they are wrong and might be probed later on.🤦🏻

2) Mohbad vomited and developed goosebumps after three injections – CP

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Idowu Owohunwa, has disclosed that late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba aka Mohbad, began vomiting and developed goosebumps after he was injected three times by a nurse, Feyisayo Ogedemgbe, which led to to his death on September 12, 2023. The CP said Mohbad was brought in dead to the hospital, and he was certified dead by doctors on duty on September 12, he also revealed that 23 witnesses have been interviewed.#JusticeforMohbad!😩😭

3) MURIC Lauds Kano Gov For Banning Textbooks

A rights group, the Muslim Rights Concern, has commended the Kano State. The government prohibits textbooks containing “harmful” and sexually explicit content in nursery, primary, and secondary schools. MURIC Chairman in Kano, Mr Hassan Indabawa, in a statement, said the move by the government to remove some lewd and pernicious teaching materials from the curriculum of basic schools was commendable. Why would schools leave Macbeth, Things Fall Apart, or Tempest and go for sexually explicit books, Nawa o😏

4) Kerosene Prices Increase by 57.18 per cent

Kerosene sef no carry last for the equation of increase rate😅🥺. Household kerosene prices surged by 57.18 percent, reaching N1,272.40 per liter in August, according to the National Bureau of Statistics. This sharp increase is from last year’s N809.52 in August 2022 highlighted by escalating energy costs.

5) FG to fund 53 road projects with 150bn Sukuk bond

The Federal Government plans to use the net proceeds of its ongoing N150 billion Sukuk issuance to fund some 53 road projects across the country. Director General, Debt Management Office Ms. Patience Oniha disclosed this at an investors’ forum in Abuja, saying the tolls collected from the roads will be used to repay the Sukuk. Sukuk is a non-interest, asset-backed bond that is based on the principles of Islamic finance.

6) Teacher’s Day: Two Ojo exceptional teachers get awards in Lagos🤩

Two teachers, Mr. Olanrewaju Afolabi, and Mrs Busayo Odubanjo, have been awarded as the most outstanding male and female teachers of Ojo Local Government, Lagos State. One of those days to be a proud teacher mehn😎🥳. The award, organized by Ojo LGA, the Nigerian Union of Teachers, and Wholistic Edu-Consult was to encourage and mark World Teachers Day for teachers within the council.

7) Ondo abduction: We were beaten, paid N50m ransom – Traumatized victim recounts😭😩

I can’t imagine the trauma of the Choir members of the Christ Apostolic Church, CAC, Oke Igan, Akure, and Ondo state, who were abducted a week ago, they have regained their freedom but after coughing out N50m ransom. Church leaders confided in newsmen that the kidnappers rejected the N22m taken to them and insisted that they wouldn’t compromise the ransom demanded. The choir members of the church were abducted along Ifon-Benin road on their way to a funeral ceremony. May God continue to protect us from evil.🙏

8) The Senate summons the IGP, Wike over the death of Greatness T . Olorunfemi

The Senate has summoned the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun; Minister of Health, Ali Pate, and his Federal Capital Territory counterpart, Egbetokun; Minister of Health, Ali Pate, and his Federal Capital Territory counterpart, Nyesom Wike, over what it described as the “avoidable death of Ms. Greatness Olorunfemi, at the Maitama General Hospital”. It is so sad that this happened, she was an active member of the Ladies of Substance Community, which fosters the growth of young women.

Olorunfemi, who was a victim of vehicle robbers known in common parlance asone chance, bled to death after she was stabbed and thrown out of a moving vehicle, then denied medical attention by the public hospital with the excuse that there was no police report of the incident.

The action was at variance with the provisions of the Gunshots Act 2017.😪

9) 40 die in India glacial lake flood

40 people have been confirmed dead in a glacial lake burst that triggered a torrential flash flood in India, according to officials. Violent torrents were stuck in the remote state of Sikkim on Wednesday after the sudden bursting of a high-altitude glacial lake in neighboring Nepal. Climate scientists warn that similar disasters will become an increasing danger across the Himalayas as global temperatures rise and ice melts.

10) Jailed Iranian activist, Narges Mohammadi wins 2023 Nobel Peace Prize🥳

Let’s celebrate our women who create impact and fight for justice and victory at last. The Norwegian Nobel Committee has awarded Iranian human rights activist, Narges Mohammadi, the Nobel Peace Prize for 2023. In the press statement, Mohammadi was credited for her fight against the oppressive policies of the Iranian government against women in the country. The release read in part, “The Norwegian Nobel Committee has decided to award the Nobel Peace Prize for 2023 to charge Mohammadi for her fight against the oppression of women in Iran and her fight to promote human rights and freedom for all. Her brave struggle has come with tremendous personal costs.🥺
