APPLY: 2022 Computer Science Academy Tech Workshop for Young Africans

Application for the 2022 cohort of the Computer Science Academy Tech Workshop for Young Africans has commenced for interested and qualified candidates. The workshop provides travel/accommodation support for people outside Lagos or Nigeria. It is sponsored by the School of Computing Science, University of Glasgow in Scotland. The programme which will be hosted by the University of Lagos aims to provide young African undergraduates and postgraduates in STEM with computer programming skills. It also seek to provide African undergraduates and postgraduates with an access to quality computer science education.

The scholarship also aims to help at least 250 beneficiaries improve on their programming skills and confidence.

The founders of the Tech workshop are interested in providing child care and other types of support for women to increase gender diversity and support for participants from outside Lagos or Nigeria to attend physically.

Scholarship Details

The Computer Science Academy Tech Workshop for Young Africans is an initiative brought up by the founders to provide young Africans in STEM with access to quality computer science education. The Academy runs an annual Python programming workshop to empower undergraduates and postgraduates in STEM with computer programming skills, so that they can acquire the foundational skills and confidence needed to pursue and thrive in a computing related career.

Scholarship Requirements

To apply and to be qualified for the scholarship, you must:

• Be a national and resident of an African country.

• Have a post-secondary education (either a current university student or a graduate).

• Be interested in learning Python programming,

  • Be available to attend the workshop physically in Lagos from 18 July – 05 August (subject to funding received from our sponsors, there is provision for travel/accommodation support for people outside Lagos or Nigeria).
