At this point, I’m certain a lot of us are starting to lose the newly rejuvenated hope sparked by a pastor a few days ago. The pastor has prophesied that the strike would be called off on the 17th of June and here’s the update by today, the 15th of June.
The federal government’s renegotiation committee headed by Prof. Nimi Briggs met with ASUU on Monday to continue the renegotiation of the FGN-ASUU 2009 agreements with the four university unions, which are all currently on strike.
Emmanuel Osodeke, the president of ASUU admitted that the meeting was fair, and they were expecting the government to respond to the issues they discussed with the committee.
He said that
“They will call us when they are ready for another meeting, but none for now. We have had about three meetings with them.’’
He also added that University Transparency and Accountability Solution (UTAS) is still undergoing tests by National Information Technology Development Agency. This is the payment system ASUU has chosen over the IPPIS.
