OSUN 2022 ELECTION: INEC Confirms Senator Adeleke As PDP’s Candidate

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Friday, 25th March 2022 has affirmed Senator Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) as the party’s gubernatorial candidate for the election coming up in Osun State on July 16.

This was made known in the final list of gubernatorial candidates released by INEC on Friday in which Senator Adeleke was named as the PDP candidate.

The list also confirmed that Dotun Babayemi, who also emerged as one of the governorship candidates of the People’s Democratic Party in Osun State, has lost to Adeleke in the race to become the State’s governor.

INEC affirmed in the list that the current governor of the state, Adegboyega Oyetola is the All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate for the coming governorship elections in the state.

The electoral body also disqualified three parties; Action Alliance (AA), African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) from the polls for not complying with the guidelines of the exercise, reducing the total number of participating political parties to 15.
